Deployment Status shows 'Files Copied' or 'No Status Reported'
Created: 04 Mar 2013 | 12 comments
I have rolled out SEP 12.1 and there are a small number of clients that show a Deployment Status of either 'Files Copied' or 'No Status Reported'. I can see in the SEPM that the clients appear to be OK, they are current in their definition dates and last scan dates, but want to know if these status reports are anything to be concerned about or not. I would also like to know what reason they are showing this status as well if anybody has any ideas?
I have been able to check one of the clients locally as it is on site and it again seems ok aprt from when you right click the SEP shield in the system tray you do not get the 'Update Policy' option (it's not even greyed out - it's not there at all). This client is an XP PC.

how do you check to see the client icon on the remote desktop? using mstsc /console session or any other remote tool?
if its installed and reporting to console. you can ignore those messages.

Hi Rafeeq,
I haven't logged locally onto these clients as they are laptops and desktops out in the field in various locations. The only one I have been able to log onto is the local one at my site that shows 'No Status Reported' and this is apparently working ok apart from the issue with the 'Update Policy' option not being present when right clicking the SEP shield in the system tray.
Interesting.I haven't seen that so far, can you post a screen shot please? are you referring to the option of disable symantec to be grayed out? Did you reboot the client?

Rafeeq,
As requested, please see screen shot (PC has been rebooted since install):
Interesting as not having the "Update Policy" option would make it seem it is an unmanaged client. But it is managed obviously.
Can you try replacing the sylink file on th affected client?

First time i' m seeing this issue. Try doing a repair from Add/remove programs.
Are you connected local to the box? or doing remote log in using any other tool?

Are you using Symantec cloud by any chance ?)

Rafeeq,
I'm not using the Symantec Cloud. I have SEPM on a server that is managing the SEP clients. I have just seen your response but since I received Brian's post I have resolved the missing Update Policy option by replacing the Sylink.xml file. However the main issue where the clients show a status of either 'Files copied' or 'No Status Reported' is still unresolved.
Cheers
Chris
Thanks Brian,
I have updated the Sylink file and will check the client when the user comes back. Will post when checked,
Chris
Brian,
This has resolved the Update Policy option which is now showing. However the Deployment Status still shows as No Status Reported,
Thanks
Chris
But it is showing the green dot as per the screenshot? So it is communicating with the SEPM?
And the client is on the version you pushed out?
What if you delete the client in the SEPM and force it to check back in?
What version of 12.1 is this?

Yes... green dot is showing still and all seems ok from that point of view.
I have deleted it and then checked in again by clicking on Update Policy when right clicking the shield on the client, however it still reports back with a deployment status of 'No Status Reported'.
The version is SEP 12.1.1101.401 RU1 MP1.
