deployment wizard keeps on running 0%

    Hello,

    I've installed all my clients(170) with the deployment wizard. Until last week it functioned fine. Now it keeps on running in 0% and nothing happens.

    Sepm 12.1.671.4971 on Wserver2003sp2. Clients are XP and W7 64 bit.

    I've tried: sym tool, repair wizard in add/remove programs, checked remote registry services, checked logfiles, still no succes.

     

    what keeps going wrong?

    Hi,

    Thank you for posting in Symantec community.

    Checked " My network places" is able to browse the network connectivity from there.

    Also check NetBIOS is not disabled.

    Does it work with clientremote.exe?

    You can run clientremote.exe with admin rights from any machine in the network. Could you please check it with another system?

    If not possible then reinstall of SEPM or upgrade to the latest version of SEP can be a possible solution.

    Thanks for all suggestions,

    I tried all mentioned possible solutions. No succes.

    Going to install version 12.1.3 Made all the backups.

    Hope this will be running soon.

    You can take the clientremote.exe and the exported package to any other machine and  run it from there.

    @Mithun Sanghavi,

     

    O.k I've read that article. I'm upgrading right now, but encoutering troubles with the database, and port.

    I saw the server very busy on: dbsrv11 75% of memory use and 54% cpu. I had to shut down the server.

    I tried upgrading but after upgrading the error: could not create the java virtual machine, a fatal exception has occurred, program will exit.

    I allready backed up all information as mentioned in an article for disaster recovery in an earlier stadium. Going to make a new installation 12.1.3 with the old database. Hope that one does not have faults!

    try repair first. installer it will do the repair and then run the upgrade.

    Hello,

    To solve the problem locate and edit the upgrade.bat file to adjust the Java Heap memory configuration.

    • Open the folder C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\bin
    • Edit the file "upgrade.bat".
    • Find the Java heap memory setting " -Xms256m -Xmx1024m " on the first line.
    • Replace the 1024 value with 512 so that the full memory settings read " -Xms256m -Xmx512m".
      (This will lower the maximum Java Heap memory to assign to the database upgrade process).
    • After saving the change again launch the upgrade.bat file which should now correctly upgrade the SEPM database schema without the Java VM error.
    • As the final step complete the run of the Management Server Configuration Wizard to finish the upgrade.

    Hi,

    I would recommend to install SEPM 12.1 RTM version and restore the database.

    After successful database restore perform an upgrade.

    Thanks to all for replying,

    @Mithun: I've tried, but error stays.

    I tried again a new installation, removed the backed up files from Symantec in the remove wizard.

    Starting up with a new installation. I will not restore the database(s) because of all the errors I get after restoring. I can use the deployment wizard again! but must get back my 170 clients. Noticed that a new search on the network will reinstall the client and it only needs to restart that client. Checked the new version, indeed 12.1.3 on the client.

    Have some work in reinstalling all the clients before I get back in controlsmiley

    Hi,

    No need to reinstall all the clients.

    You can do a fresh install of SEP 12.1 RU3 then try one of the following steps to restore the client communcation.

    1. Reinstall Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager using a disaster recovery file  When the Management Server Configuration Wizard runs, choose "Custom configuration" and "Use a recovery file". ( For Small Business Edition, if the folder does not exist, create the folder and place the recovery file there before installation. Location: <Install drive> \<Install folder>\Server Private Key Backup, Example: C:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Server Private Key Backup)

             OR

           2. Send communication update client package. Check this article
