I have a stand alone PC with windows xp sp3 installed in it. I used the WIN PE boot disc to creat an image of the same machine. I don't want to boot the machine to pre-os and restore the image.Instead i want restore the image by double clicking the ghost32.exe in c:\program files\symantec\ghost. I do that and choose local disk from image and choose the image to restore but i get the above error message. Any solution would be appreciated.
    thanks in advance.

The restoring operation which you are trying to perform without booting in to PreOS (Win PE) is not possible , you have to boot the machine in to WinPE and then perform the restore operation , The reverse operation , that is creting an image is possible while machine is not in to Win PE and running in Active OS , that is called HOT Imaging , but restoring in active OS is not possible.
