Hi,

I'd like to develop a security best practice analysis tool over Windows Server OS. How do I detect if Symantec product is installed?  If possible, can I get its status?

I know that for Windows client OS, like Windows XP, Win7 I can query Anti-virus from WMI, but Server OS doesn't support this.

Thanks.

It's Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange.

Symantec webgateway does not have a method of asking a OS if it has SMS for Exchange or other product on it. I imagine there are better tools to query systems for software installed such as Symantec's Altris and Similar software solutions from Microsoft. A registry queury may do it for you as well.

The easiest way to figure out which registry files we put in, we list them all in our manual removal documentation:

Enumerating registry is the most reliable. If you know install directory, that will work as well.

Thank you! Is there a way to query the software status, On/Off?

I believe the two services smsmse/SAVFMSESpamStatsManager helps.

with regards,

Forrest

The best way I can think is to check the status of the VSAPI registery entry for Exchange
