Hello
I am using Backup Exec verion 12 with HP 1x8 G2 autoloader and HP LTO Ultrium-3 drive,
The full backup is failing from last 3 weeks and the Incremental backups completes successfully and some it fails.
The full backup fails with the error as below:

Storage device "HP1" reported an error on a request to write data to media.
Error reported:
A device attached to the system is not functioning.
V-79-57344-34036 - An unknown erroe has occurred.
A selection on device D: was skipped because of previous errors with the job.

when checked the properties of "HP1" in Backup Exec console
i found
Soft read errors: 8
hard read errors:14
Hard write erros: 13
please give me solution for this issue.

Unless there is a physical fault, this is usually resolved by upgrading firmware and or drivers
To check for a hardware fault run a few passes of HP's diagnostics routine

I just updated the driver of the tape drive and restarting the server..
