Well it's back.  DFS clients are being disconnected as long as the antivirus module is enabled.  W2k3 with XP SP3 clients that have offline files enabled to a DFS share keep going offline.  Once I disable AV, not the other features just AV, the issue goes away.

I do not run auto protect on the server.  It's the clients that disconnect from the drive.  I disabled file system auto protect on the clients and the clients stay connected.

Disable "scan network drives" under "File System Auto-Protect" for Endpoint Antivirus and AntiSpyware protection when using a DFS shares.

Yes i meant the same :)
try making the policy to scan when its modified; check if that works even when AP is enabled.

Scan the network drive did not do anything.

try disabling the AP, your schedule scan will still run to protect the PC

"try disabling the AP, your schedule scan will still run to protect the PC"

This does work but the point of active scan is to prevent a virus infection and not wait until your infected and hopefully clean it hours later after the virus did its job.  The good thing is my clients sit behind an IBM/ISS Proventia firewall so I really don't have much concern for downloaded viruses, it's just the thumb drives that worries me.

I don't want to be nasty but I cannot believe how bad Symantec is getting.  Before my company was bought we did not use Symantec and now we are forced to and I must say it cause me more issues than my end users.  Between the new version of Altiris/Symantec always crashing and the AV I am amazed Symantec is still in business.
