Diagnostics pack for 7.5

Hi all:

I'm looking for the Diagnostics Pack for ITMS 7.5, for installing it on a desktop rather than in a NS.

I get to this article: http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO5647 but it is up to 7.1

Do you know where can I download the diagnostics pack for 7.5?

Do a search on your NS for "diagnostics" and you should find the msi somewhere.

Hi,

If you want to install "Altiris Log Viewer" on Desktop computers to see all SMA related logs, then you need to copy altiris_diagnostics_7_5_x86.msi or x64.msi from your NS Server to all appropriate Desktop computers and install it. Or use Software Management solution to install it on all required managed client computers.

Altiris_diagnostics_7_5_x86.msi and x64.msi location on NS server:

  • C:\Program Files\Altiris\Symantec Installation Manager\Installs\Altiris\

Location of .msi depends on location, where SIM was installed.

Ah, but doing that places all smp diag files on the client (most of which will not run on a ckient), when in fact only an exe and a couple of dll files will suffice for the logviewer.

Anyway, customer can enable /diags for SMA and watch logs in SMA log viewer, instead of installing Altiris Log Viewer on each Desktop client computer.

Indeed, unless they dont display the tray icon, in which case they will need to deploy a vbs file to each client that will display the diag windows.

Hi all:

I was looking for the altiris_diagnostics_7_5 msi in the NSCap folder with no success.

Thanks to Igor's suggestion, I found it under the SIM installation folder (althouhg I can only find the x64 msi package)

I know that I can get to the agent's logs in an endpoint by using the /diag parameter, but using the log viewer helps much better for troubleshooting an agent (as it allows filtering and so)
