Thx CraigV but i think that this link is from 2008 , and my question is about BE 2012 ans SR 2011 !
It would give you an idea of the underlying differences which haven't changed, bar support for new software & hardware.

ok , my issue is that when i am trying to backup a certain VMware using BE 2012 it fails , after contacting support they told me that is not possible due to a "Virtual machine has a SCSI controller with bus-sharing enabled." , is this will happen also if i used SR 2011 ?
Aha...you should have led with your issue and not a comparison between the 2 products.
You probably have this issue then:

Not sure on whether or not SSR 2011 will allow this to be backed up.
Thanks!

Not sure on whether or not SSR 2011 will allow this to be backed up.
SSR just backs up the VM as if it was a physical server (i.e. SSR is installed inside the VM) so it should not care about the configuration of the VM. In other words, it should work fine.
Please mark thread as solved if you consider this to have answered your question(s)
Verbatim from the VMware KB - http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search...
Workaround
Have you considered installing RAWS on the virtual machine & backing it up via Backup Exec itself ?
I didn't understand the first point ( Consider running backup software within your guest operating system as an alternative solution.) , what do you mean by the guest operating system ?
SSR does not have a soecific option to Backup VMware, Backup Exec does.
As such SSR would be used as if the virtual machine is a phycisal machine with SSR installed inside it.
BE would still look at the VMDK files that make up the virtual machien and back those up
then, you confirm that SSR willl not backup a "Virtual machine has a SCSI controller with bus-sharing enabled." ?
Nope it probably will just the backup process is completely different and the various restore abilities are also, as such you are not comparing like with like in terms of whatever end result you want form yoru backup product.
