This issue has been solved. See solution.

We are about to configure our Exchange 2010 server to route outgoing mails through Brightmail gateway as well. I have heard that we should assign different network interface for outgoing and incoming mail. Is that so?

Hi, that is correct, you

Hi,

that is correct, you should use two different IP addresses for inbound and outbound mail scanning by the Messaging Gateway appliance.

However, it is not strictly necessary to use two different NICs (network cards) if, for example, you can't use two network cables.

In this case, you can configure one virtual IP for the outbound mail scanning.

Please note that as of our

Please note that as of our 9.0 release in 2010, we can support the use of the same IP for both inbound and outbound email.  Best practices still recommend separation by IP (or virtual IP), but customers can use the same IP if needed.
