Directory is not compatible with GRT.

This issue has been solved. See solution.

I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 server running Backup Exec 2010 R3. One of the jobs has an state of completed with exceptions. Checking the job I notice that the exception "Directory does not support Granular Recovery Technology (GRT). Granular restores cannot be performed for items in this directory".

Im backing up a host with 3 virtual machines, but the exception only applies for 2 of them. The virtualization platform is Hyper-V.

Any ideas of what is happening?

What OS'es are these problem VM's running?  If it is Windows 2012, then it does not support GRT.

Thanks pkh:

The issue is only in one of the VMs. The other two are being backing up without problems. The three of them are running Windows Server 2008 R2.

You could be facing this known problem

However this document is for VMware.  You should log a support case for Symantec to investigate this problem

Thanks again pkh.

I had read that article before. I am going to follow your recommendation. I will log a support case with Symantec.
