This KB article: service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/docid/2007111409432848 , about deploying SEP to client computers, says to "Disable the AntiVirus Email Protection option".

Is this still the recommended setting for all client installs?

They can certainly be installed if you wish.

In reality the email tools do scan files before they get to the system, but even without them AutoProtect will scan any email attachment before it can be saved or executed.

On clients it is absolutely fine if you install all the features.

Yes but if you are installing a SEP client on any SERVER OS then only ANtivirus and Antispyware needs to be installed.

If they're not needed, then I won't install them.

Why install AntiVirus Email Protection if Symantec suggests otherwise?

    The Above KB Article :

How to Deploy Symantec Endpoint Protection to your client computers using the Migration and Deployment Wizard.

    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/docid/2007111409432848

is for Migration and Deployment Wizard and it specifies:

Disable the AntiVirus Email Protection option (suggested). If this Installation package is for deployment to servers, disable the Truscan Proactive Threat Scan and Network Threat Protection options.

It is"Suggested" and it nowhere specifies the word "Recommended".

All the Features of Symantec are for Security only.

    So, Please do not worry.

    Things are absolutely fine.
