  • 1.  Disable VPHOME and VPLOGON Shares

I am in the process of upgrading from SAV 10.x to SEP 11.  What I would like to do is to "disable" the VPHOME and VPLOGON shares on the SAV server and create a "dummy" share with a readme instructing users where to get the AntiVirus client from.  Then I could go back and migrate the SAV 10.x clients to SEP 11.

Would there be any problems with disabling the VPHOME and VPLOGON shares, other than no new installs could be performed?

    Hi Johnny,

What your suggesting appears to be a bit convoluted, but, yes, it would only block new client remote installs.

    Best,

Just a follow up question: Where did you create a similar VPLOGON folder for SEP11?  I am trying to set up a folder that will have the same results of connecting a new client install to the SEPM server without having to push the upgrade from the server itself.

SEP handles remote install diffrently so VPHOME share won't work with SEP.

So you will have to Manually create a share put the MSI package in that and put that in login script.
