Hello,

I receive new computers with the Bios set with :
- No PXE boot
- No WOL

and of course, no OS loaded.

I connect the computer to the network.

Is it possible to have this computers automaticaly seen in DS? And to configure automatically the Bios?

If yes, how?

Philippe

The answer is no

On a new pc you have to set PXE boot first. That is the only way to get the PC in DS without first loading the client.
Thre is no other discovery method.

Bad answer for me ;-))))

I know that, in the Dell factory, they are able to do it : they just connect the power and the network cables. The machines are then started, the Bios updated and configured and the OS loaded.

Is someone know the way they do it?

Perhaps they use a tool not woming from Altiris

The end of my answer

The Bios support WOL and PWE, but is not enabled by default.

I'd like to enable it by Altitis (I already do it for machines in DS or NS).

But, with new machines, I can't do it because they are not in DS and I would like to find a way to do it without entering manually the machine in DS.

The fastest and easy way is

The fastest and easy way is ask to DELL to configure in advance the WOL and PXE options. But if you have already received all pc's , you will have to do manually.
