Discovery Accelerator - unspecified error in searches

Created: 13 Mar 2006 • Updated: 22 May 2010 | 7 comments

I'm having trouble searching my vaults in DA and cannot figure it out. We are all up to date on SP's at EV (6.0 SP1) and DA servers (5 sp4).

On searches it gets through each vault and in the results I get 0 hits and under Info - Unsepecified Error.

I'm getting the following event id's on the EV DA server:

42077, 7259 and 8392. I can post the text of these errors if someone thinks this would be helpful.

Almost seems like an index issue to me. Can you use the Web App to search against the archive? (not always a fair test, but can quickly point to where the break is)

Did this just start occurring or has it never worked?

This all worked post-implementation and prior to our EV 6 SP1 upgrade. So i'm guessing that something with EV 6 has broken it but we have done all the upgrade steps on DA to make sure we're up to speed. Is there some way to test the link between DA and the index?

We can search against the index with no problem from either the EV Search page or the Outlook search page.

And for the record. Paid Veritas support is a joke. We have a critical ticket, 2 hour response, that was opened at 8:30am yesterday 3/13 and we have yet to get to a technician. Ridiculous!

You did not happen to update .Net did you? Can you tell me what version you are running?

Here's a link to a useful (free) tool that shows the definitive version of .NET that's installed (and related apps: ADO and IE).

Problem solved, albeit not quickly and without a lot of waiting on support.

Essentiallly, our EV 6 components were not installed correctly and caused trouble with EV 6. We reinstalled EV 6 SP1 and restarted the services and we are getting hits with usable information from DA.
