Disk encryption for SSD in standalone/private computer - Endpoint or Drive Encryption?

    Hi everybody,

I am currently in the process of setting up a new/upgraded machine that has a single SSD for system and user data. Since Truecrypt is no longer developed for a while and I had used PGP disk encryption in the office before, I reasoned I might switch encryption products. However, I am not quite clear whether Endpoint Encryption (which solely appears on the product page) is now the recommended (and maintained) product for private users or whether I should go with Drive Encryption (which is recommended for single users in the encryption management comparison popup at http://buy.symantec.com/estore/clp/productdetails/pk/endpoint-encryption and also still seems to be sold with maintenance contracts). Maybe someone can shed light on this.

Also, maybe someone could comment on the state of support for SSDs, specifically TRIM in the respective products. It would also be interesting whether the hardware encryption capabilities of my drive (Samsung Evo 850 v2) can be leveraged - however, based on this support note (https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH226779.html), it seems this is not the case for Windows 7 (which I will probably run until it goes out of maintenance). Are there any plans to change this?

    Best regards,
    S.
