Disk Space Requirements for Task/Package/Deployment Server

Created: 13 Sep 2012 | 1 comment

I'm looking to set up a VM with C: and D: drives to handle Task, Package and Deployment services for my Altiris 7.1 SP2 server.  My NS will eventually be managing a little over 4000 clients where I have yet to come across minimum system requirements for how I should size the D: drive.  Similar to my NS, figured only Windows 2008 R2 would be on C: and whatever Altiris services would be loaded on or use D: for storage.

I don't want to go overboard with configuring the capacity for the D: drive but at the same time don't want to make it too small.  Any general guidelines on how big I should make my D: drive?  200 GB too small considering we may not delve too much into OS deployment?  It's unfortunate that I can't run everything (well...SQL is off-box) from my 2 CPU (3.33 GHz, 6-core per proc) server with 24 GB RAM considering there's tons of free space on its D: drive.

If you're talking about a Site Server the program files require very little, it almost entirely depends on how many images and packages you will use how much space you will require.
