  • 1.  Distinguish policy for internal users

    Hi all
Is it possible to differentiate a policy to handle message that come from inside (so for internal users in AD) in a different way from the message that come from outside the email organization?

For example, the internal domain is acme.com and I want the messages sent from my internal network (from my users, between them or outside) are hold in the quarantine when the messages are marked as spam, while I want the messages that come from outside the network are deleted when are marked as spam.

Is it possible to do this?

Yes, there are two seperate options for spam detection, incoming and outgoing. You can choose which policy you want applied for both when editing your policy group.

    Hi JDavis,

Thanks for your answer. As I know the inbound flow is intended, for SMG, as all email that comes from inside and outside on the inbound interface, isn't it? So I have to distinguish per source IP address and destination IP address, and both address must be the internal email server.

Do you mean incoming=inbound and outcoming=outbound or is there another option while creating a policy?

No, the outbound an dinbound queues are simply how the SMG sorts out the mail it scans. The setting I am talking about is when you edit a policy group and select the Spam tab. In here you can enable outbound spam detection and choose a policy. This lets you differentiate outbound spam from inbound spam.
