I just received a Dell E6410 back from repair under warranty. I immediately tested the hardware before trying to load our corporate image and it passed. We use GhostCast Server 11.5. Being that we have tons of these Dells that we ghost we have several reliable boot usb keys. In fact, I had just ghosted one a few hours before this one. But this laptop will not start up the ghost client. It loads the nic drivers and mouse drivers and states that there is a divide overflow. I have reset the BIOS to factory default with the exception of the SATA operation which we change from RAID to ACPI. That did not help. Whats wrong with this laptop??? I am positive it is not our software. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Sarah

I know this sounds lame since it was just sent back from repair or what ever, but I have had it happen that a "new" board is replaced and it has an anchent bios on it.   I would at least check the version of this machines bios compared to the other E6410.

Depending on if you are using dos and the univeral packet driver a10 bios update has items specificly for the pxe option rom and that is what the universal packet driver runs off of so it would be a good idea to look at.

I am not 100% sure this is the link you need but look into it further would be my suggestion.

    1. Added support of Signed Firmware BIOS. 2. Fixed fail to create or change Hard Drive password from DDPA 2.0. 3. Addressed FDE hard drive detection issue. 4. Fixed USB data transfer issue lockup with iTunes application. 5. Updated the PXE option ROM to version 1.3.76

Also, try changing the RAM in the machine in case it has some defective chips.

Thank Y'all for the help! It turned out the motherboard was at fault. Dell sent a tech out to replace no issues!
