I'm running Endpoint protection on a Windows 2008 server and I just installed the Plex Multimedia server in order to enable DLNA and make my music collection (stored on the server) available to a DLNA compatible receiver.

I can see the receiver try to connect to the server, the endpoint protection shows that it's blocking the port scan. How do I configure Endpoint Protection so it allows DLNA requests through to the server?  I'm running Endpoint Protection 12.1.

You can either turn off the port scan option (not recommended) or you can add it to the excluded hosts list in the IPS policy. Just add the IP address of the server.

    Thanks for the response.

That's what I did after I made the post, I turned off port scan and the receiver sees the server just fine and EP doesn't complain. I would allow the Server IP address, but it may change depending on network conditions. Aaah, I see now from the article that I can allow a range of IP addresses. Any reason I wouldn't just allow any IP address on my internal network?

You can but the risk is if an internal box gets infected or compromised and it would be excluded from IPS so you wouldn't know. So it's just up to you on how you want to handle.
