DLO Desktop Agent - The Windows Task Scheduler is not running.

Created: 14 Nov 2011 | 6 comments

I'm getting the following error on 3 of 20 NetBackup DLO workstations. Other than this error, the client functions normally.

Title:
DLO Desktop Agent

Description:
The Windows Task Scheduler is not running.
Start the Task Scheduler and click Retry to continue or Cancel to continue without scheduling any jobs.

This happens every time a client logs in to their workstation. Clicking "retry" on the error causes it to reappear after 30 seconds. On the problem machines, the Task Scheduler service is running.

Why am I getting this error? So far a reinstall hasn't resolved the problem. Need a resolution ASAP.

You did not mention the OS on the desktop or the DLO version?

Have a look at this TN: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH128447

My apologies.

All clients are on Windows XP SP3. DLO is 6.1 MP6.

I tried the instructions provided. The client did have the task in scheduled tasks and I managed to delete it. However, upon restarting the NetBackup DLO client, the error message appeared immediately.

I am out of ideas.... Maybe log a support call with Symantec?

Yeah that seems to be the only option at this point. I've contacted our vendor for a technical contact ID or support ID so I can submit a call.

Thanks!

I have followed your instructions to reinstall SP3 and delete the scheduled tasks but this has not corrected the issue.

I have 2 users with the same issue running XP SP3.
