  • 1.  DLP - Oracle DB on Linux - Advice Needed

    Posted Jul 21, 2015 11:17 AM

We currently have our Oracle DB resting on the same box as the Enforce box. We are looking into moving the Oracle DB off-box and into a Linux environment.

What are the pro's and con's to this? Will there be any trouble converting to Linux?

    Thanks!

    Acmii,

Moving the DB to another box should be easy to do and can be done. I have had DBA's move Oracle DB's fom windows to Linux all of the time. Just make sure that they use the DBT files when they create the new DB in Linux.

I am not a DBA, but any good DBA will know how to import the data from one DB to another. Many DBA's use data pump to import the data. I will leave it up to your DBA to know whats best.

Overall there are NO Con's to doing this.. overall you will get better perforance from BOTH the Console and the DB, since they are not sharing resources.

    Good Luck
