Hi All,

I would like to whether Symantec supports PDA's and how?
This is my knowledge on the same- 1. PDA's are supported ,lets say the user wants to copy his data on to a PDA ( Blackberry etc). This can be protected using Endpoint Prevent. 2. User is trying to send a mail to a third party through his LAN ( connected to Wi-Fi or smthng ). This also can be blocked but this incident will be treated as a Network activity and can be prevented using Network Prevent. 3. Is it possible to install Endpoint agent for PDA's by which we can protect the data on PDA.

Please correct me if i am wrong and curious to hear from you experts. Pls revert.

Here are some answers to your questions:

  1. There is no DLP agent for PDA's - however, if you have a DLP Agent installed on the endpoint computer, you can block the transfer of files to the PDA.
  2. If a user's PDA is connected to the organizational Exchange than when he sends a mail from his PDA the DLP Network Prevent for Mail will block the attempt to send confidential information, and it doesn't matter what is the geographic location of the user since he is connected directly to the organizational Exchange.
  3. As i said there is no agent for the PDA, only for PC's.

Thanks for your reply. Have better clarity now.

Is it possible to dowload the DLP Admin guide. I am not able to find it in the Partnernet.  Pls share if you have..

You can only download the Admin Guide trough the "Symantec File Connect".
I can suggest you contact you local Symantec branch in order to receive more information and the documentation.
