How do I stop email from being sent between internal recipients that contain confidential information?  Thank you.

    hello,

it depends what is your DLP infrastructure. To block email you must have deployed email prevent or endpoint.

Then if you are using prevent system, you need to be sure that DLP analyse internal email and not only the one sent outbound of your company.

If you are using endpoint, there is no specific things to do except if in your DLP policy you only request blocking for email sent to external email domains (or rules like that which can avoid you applying them on internal emails).

Internal emails in most messaging solutions are not routed via a gateway, but are rather delivered within the database via an API. Since, it may not be possible to route internal email via DLP (in most cases), Network Prevent may not be a choice.

While, most customers do not consider monitoring internal email, the same is possible. Your options for monitoring are:

    a) Endpoint Prevent

    b) Network Discover scan for Exchange / Domino

    c) Network Prevent - This is possible only if you create internal routing rules to route all email via Network Prevent. However, there may be a significant performance impact on your messaging routing infrastructure in this case (as there will be nearly double the emails being processed).
