Hi Ylin-123,

PowerPath and SF's/SFW's DMP are both MPIO implementations.  They both have DSMs and servers can have multiple DSMs installed.  However, a lun can only be claimed by one DSM at a time.

It is not recommended to install 2 or more DSMs that can claim the same array.  The problem is that you would not really know which DSM is going to claim the lun.  Some OSs have the ability to prioritize the order that the DSMs are searched but other OSs do not have the ability for users can modify the serach order.  In any results the order would be for all luns and not just a single lun.  So the end result is either SF's/SFW's DSM woudl claim all luns from an array or PowerPath's DSM would claim them all.

Thank you,

Wally
