  • 1.  Do I need to put my GUP same group as the clients

    Posted Sep 11, 2013 04:59 AM

I have 4 countries > each countries has 10 groupings. Does it mean that I need to have 10 GUP client for each group?

What if I have the parent group (country A) then 3 subgroup and my GUP reside on the parent group. Will it work?

the LU policy for the client and GUP has to be same.

    Not necessary

A single Group Update Provider can be a client computer in any group. To configure a single Group Update Provider, you specify the IP address or host name of the client computer that you want to designate as the Group Update Provider.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Symantec community.

I would be glad to answer your query.

    Q. I have 4 countries > each countries has 10 groupings. Does it mean that I need to have 10 GUP client for each group

--> Not necessary it totally depends upon business requirement. I would request you to understand the concept of  Group update provider.

Ideally each country can have single SEPM and each location can have a GUP.

You can configure several different types of Group Update Providers in the LiveUpdate Settings policy: a single Group Update Provider, an explicit list of Group Update Providers, and multiple Group Update Providers. The types of Group Update Provider are not mutually exclusive. You can configure one or more type of Group Update Provider per policy.
