Do managed clients still get updated definitions when off network

So I know when our unmanaged clients are off are network they will get their updates when they connect to the internet. My question is when our managed clients leave our school network will they still receive the updated definitions?

Yes, if the policy is configured correctly to allow this

Essentially, you need to create two locations, one for OFF network and the other for ON network

You can than create two policies, one for when the clients are connected to the SEPM so they can update from the GUP or SEPm and the other policy to get the updates from symantec LU when off network

In your case of SEP 12.1, Using Location Awareness, it is possible to maintain the default policy when connected locally, but detect when the client is off-site and start checking the Symantec LiveUpdate server for updates. This can be achieved through configuration changes in the SEPM. There are two parts to setting up this feature:

Part 1: Configuring Locations and the criteria for Location switching within the applicable group(s) in the SEPM.

Part 2: Configuring a LiveUpdate Settings policy to only Use the default Symantec Liveupdate server.

Yes it is possible.

It is depend on the policy which you have applied. If you have configured the policy which can operate client as mobile user then it can get the defintion from Server as well as from Internet if not on Server.
