The way our domain is set up it is not possible for ghost to add an account on it even with the administrator name and password.  Is there a way to get ghost to use the account we use to join to the domain already?  I have typed in that user name and password, but ghost fails to join with it.  When I say I tell ghost to add an account with the same user name it knows it exists, so why can't it use it?

    Thanks,
    Ben

Choose Tools then supported domains list.

If your domain is not in the list, then add it.  At the bottom is a "console service account" section.  You can edit the account and just give it one that you want it to use from within the domain.

    sorry,

Uncheck the "Create Console Service Account in the domain" option.  You should be able to type anything you want in the domain field at that point.

After its added then "Edit" the credentials as I described above.

I did that too.  It lists root there just like it should, but when machines get told to rejoin it doesn't seem to want to use it.

I am having the same problem as this.  Is there any more information that is available?  The warning message in the event viewer gives me an "access is denied error" when creating the machine account.  Any help?

I am at a loss to explain why it doesnt let you just put in the domain and uncheck the create account option.  I editted the account first and added the Console Service Account that pre-existed.  Then I was able to Add a domain name of "JOEBLOW" and uncheck the box and it put that in the domain list.  Not sure if there is some communication that occurs when you add the domain name, it just worked for me.

For me the domain is added to the list just fine, and if I understand the other post correctly they can do that too.  The problem is when the machine is actually ghosted an error is available which says something to the effect of not being able to join to the domain.  The username and password are entered correctly in ghost and the correct domain for that user name and password is entered in the supported domains list.

I am able to add the domain and the account in the ghost console.  The problem is when I ghost a machine ghost cannot add the machine to the domain.  I am sure it is a permission problem but am at a loss as to what I need to change to make it happen.

This is why I started just using netdom.exe to join domains in "after" scripts.  I needed 100% reliability not the half assed stuff I got from the console.  I do not know if it is still the same but in the past the account already had to exist in the AD for the clients to "sync up" to.  The console would create the accounts sometimes for me and sometimes not.   I got tired of playing with something that was not 100% and worked it out on my own.

Curiously, you say you can not create the account in the AD.  Is it because the credential you are using to run the ghost console on the ghost server machins is not an AD admin?
