This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi,

I've got some clients that can't register on SEPM.

The message is:

25 septembre 2008 08:56:00 CEST:  Le client essaie d'effectuer l'enregistrement avec un ID de domaine non valide 648CE9310A010A6400672BB3169BAAD1 à partir de PORTABLE12.  [Site : AIST]  [Serveur : dc]

Theses clients are in Workgroup (not in the domaine), is it the cause?

I try to Sylink them and upgradeto MR3 ... but without success ...

Thanks for your help!

You can use  a utility called sylinkdrop.exe.

You need to get a copy of the sylink.xml file from a known working machine (or porbably the server)

run the utility on the client.  This will fix the issue.

Sometimes I run into an issue where the services do not quit in time and you get an error.

But basically what happens is that the services are stopped the sylink.xml file is replaced with the correct one and then the services are restared.

I think you could also stop the services edit the sylink.xml file and enter in the correct domain id, and then restart the services.

Hope this helps.

we had this same issue and, as Lincster said, updating the sylink file resolved the issue.
