Hi

When I export archives to PST it splits the PST files. Is there any way disabling that?

There is no normal way in

There is no normal way in doing this, the only possible way is to merge them once the migration is complete.  But again I don't see the point of this as there is more change of the pst getting corrupted.

Maybe if you try and explain your situation or what you are trying to achieve we can look at a better solution.

Do you need any more

Do you need any more assistance with this?
If a post solved your problem, can you mark that as the Solution?

Thanks & Regards

Run your export from DA

If you run your exports through DA, as part of the export process you are given the option of the size at which .pst's are to be split.

Give it a try and see if it will work for you.

Even choosing the option...

ev2007 sp4 - exch2k3 sp2

I tried twice to export a 5GB archive and it was split each time into 3 approx 1.5GB  and a 500k PST. The second time, I made sure that I chose UNICODE mode (Outlook2k3+). I'd like to know if there is a setting somewhere outside of the export dialog that will allow me to export to a single PST.

Thanks.

Hi, I had a case for

Hi,

I had a case for something similar, and there is an imposed limit of 1.5GB with the PST export code (being based on ANSI, whereas Unicode is 20GB). I will see if this is penciled for a release soon. You could log a support case, quoting E-track 1465161. This can then be added toward the E-track as another instance of this limit.

Roger that...

So choosing unicode doesn't also get you the increased maximum size? The dialog is just to pick the "format"?

Thanks.

Yes

@Bobby, yes you're right.

The etrack has been filed to try to get this addressed in the future, but there are no current plans to "fix it".  I'm not sure whether DA has the same issue.

Outlook limitation?

Hi,

Is there also not an Outlook limitation to a pst being larger than 2 GB?

Gertjan

Only on Outlook versions

Only on Outlook versions prior to Office 2007
On Office 2007 the limitation has been removed

This is crazy.  Outlook

This is crazy.  Outlook 2003/2007 support Unicode PST file sizes up to 20 GB as the limit by default and is configurable beyond that - though not recommended.

You can't always merge data from multiple PST files afterwards - if there are meeting invitations/appointments that occur in the past that were never accepted, trying to move them into a different folder results only in options to copy the item as text with attachment or message with attachment which completely changes the object.

In addition, the end reviewer does not want to have to load multiple PST files to search through for the same criteria!  Not giving users the option to change this is just plain stupid.

As wayne suggested

As wayne suggested previously, you can merge the resultant PSTs

As mentioned previously this

As mentioned previously this has been logged as a defect and is considered during planning for each release and service pack, it's just a high priority issue (when you compare it with a long list of other areas that need attention/enhancement).

If you feel strongly that this should be fixed in a particular release, you'll need to log a case with support and have it escalated through with a business case.

Hope that helps,
