  • 1.  Double boot disks mit PGP Whole disc encryption

    Hallo Zusammen,

    Herbert.

    Hello,

I am using actually PGP 10.1.1 and I have one boot disc ( XP ) and one data disc full encrypted.

I now want to implement a second boot disc ( SSD ) in the PC with W7.

How can I run a full encrypted system with the 2 boot discs and one data disc with an optionally boot of XP or W7 ?

Does PGP recognizes the encryption code for the XP and data disc when I boot the SSD and vice versa

when I boot with the XP system recognizing the encryptioncode of the SSD and data disc ?

What is the roadmap to get a full encrypted system ( all 3 discs ), so that I can boot with XP or SSD
having access to all discs ?

Is there anywhere an action plan or is it that easy ?

Install PGP on the new SSD disc. Encrypt and thats it ?

    Thx for your help.

    Herbert.

Yes, the post is sitting in the PGP forum as shown in Screenshot. Any PGP folks out there to help with this user?

This is from the current 10.2 PGP Desktop User's Manual:

You can use the PGP Whole Disk Encryption feature on a dual-boot system, as long as you boot to an operating system supported by PGP WDE (such as Windows XP, Windows 2000, or Windows Vista) and PGP Whole Disk Encryption is installed. Partition mode supports dual-booting with another operating system (such as Linux) as long as you encrypt only your Windows partition. The other operating system must be on another, non-encrypted partition.

If I were doing this, I'd be cautious: decrypt the current boot disk, install the new boot disk, install the new OS, install PGP on the new disk, make sure the dual booting is working properly, then encrypt the boot disks.
