  • 1.  Downlaoding GUP Content Manually

    Posted Jul 02, 2014 05:52 AM

    Hi,

I'm running SEPM 12.1.4013.4013 and clients are on 12.1.3.

I have a situation whereby I would like to download GUP content manually. I realise this sounds odd but would just like to know if its possible.

I know a jdb file can manually update the SEPM but is the such a file with which to manually update a GUP?

    Many Thanks

Not possible, GUP can take updates only from SEPM.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Symantec community.

At this point it's not possible to update GUP content manually.

The SEP client software on a GUP system can be updated using the Intelligent Updaters available from Security Response however these do not apply to the GUP process itself nor does any information get cached for other clients to use for updating by this methodology.

I've read in similar articles that the GUP content can be copied to other GUPs.

I'd imagine it's possible and maybe classed as a temporary workaround. I'd also imagine it's not advocated by Symantec.

No. When any client will be assigned as a GUP. They can download the defintion from Server not from other GUP.

GUP will be porivde the defintion for that clients which is a normal clients.
