Download Insight is malfunctioning ?

Hi guys,

Can anyone please let me know what is happening when the SEP client v 12.1 RU1 after the update on Windows Server 2003 SP2 32 bit got error with amber exclamation mark saying "Download Insight is malfunctioning ?

There is no green dot on the system tray icon either ?

have you tried restarting the machine after install of SEP 12.1 ru1?

can you try restarting smc fixes the issue?

Is this Issue occurying only on 1 machine or a number of machines?

The SEP client system must be rebooted after installation to completely activate all components.

Or you may stop the SMC service by the command "smc -stop" followed by starting the service again with "smc -start".

ok, the resolution was to reboot the server two times :-|

is this normal or a bug in SEP v12.1 RU1 with Windows Server 2003 ?

“Download Insight is malfunctioning” appears after upgrade from SEP 11.0 to SEP 12.1
Fix ID:
2496842
Symptom: When a SEP 11.0 client is upgraded to SEP 12.1, the following message appears in SEP UI:

Download Insight is malfunctioning
In addition, the event log contains the following error:
Event ID 74 "SONAR generated the error: code 0: explanation: Definition error"

Solution: If the SEPM database does not yet include LiveUpdate content, the auto-upgrade process copies the content from the full package to create a delta for the client.
