Hi All,

We are  using CMS 7.1 sp1 in our environment, In Patch Management we need to download only the patches applicable for XP 32 bit  and we are downloading the KBs of Xp, but issue is that while downloading the XP KBs console is downloading all KBs(for ex: Win7 KBs, server KBs etc), which we don't require and unnecessarily its consuming the space also.Can anyone tell me the process or setting so that only the XP KBs should be downloaded to my NS and Package server as well.

I don't have access to my box now...but in the main configuration for Patch there are (or should be...just started with 7.1 recently) settings concerning "exuded software releases": in that configuration you should be able to exclude the apps/OSes you don't want. Sorry I can't give you exact steps. Try searching for"excluded".

Thanks, are you talking about Import Patch data for windows setting->and unchecking @ vendor setting?

Under Jobs/Tasks, Software, Patch, Import Patch Data for windows, microsoft, what do you have selected? If you only select XP, those should be the only bulletins that data gets downloaded for.  Check that task schedule to see when it runs next, mine runs daily at 2am, but you can set it off manually.

Run that, and then I'd run the Check Software Patch Integrity job with "delete packages no longer in use" checked just as cleanup measure.

Note that selecting XP in the Import Patch data area doesn't mean all XP bulletins are downloaded, just that the data will be available under actions - patch remediation center.  You still need to stage/distribute the patches you want to send out.

I had unchecked the not supported OS but  they are still downloading all the patches when I am trying to stage only a perticular KB of XP.

Did you run the integrity job to cleanup the ones you don't want to see?

Maybe you can try this and exclude Windows 7 as per the following KB article:

However, please note that these settings will apply for PMIMPORT only from the next time it imports from the Symantec website.
