Download Symantec Endpoint Recovery Tool

Created: 13 Jan 2011 | 5 comments

Does anyone know where I can download the Symantec Endpoint Recovery Tool? I have been using Symantec's small business products for over 5 years now and have been getting increasingly frustrated with the lack of support they offer us these days.

Recently I was attacked by a number of rootkits as well as Fake AV viruses and the only way I was able to clean the systems was by using an alternate venders AV Boot CD. Now I don't want to be a pain in the butt however the CEO of my company saw me scanning and asked why I was not using a Symantec disk to clean our PC's. I felt like an idiot explaining to him that our AV product does not offer a AV Boot disk and that several other venders do. So of course he asked why we don't use their AV then. My only answer was that I know Symantec's product, he told me to learn a new one.

Now I know that since I am using the small business version I do not have access to the Symantec Endpoint Recovery Tool, which is Symantec's version of an AV Boot disk, but does anyone know how to build one from say a PE builder program? Or is there any way I can buy one from Symantec? I just want a copy people can see me scanning with so they stop asking me why I am not using our AV. The techs and sales seem at a loss or don't even know what I am talking about so any ideas would help!

Hello Mjmartino,

The tool is found on Fileconnect. Do you have access to Fileconnect? Are you saying that SEP 12 users do not have access to the tool?

https://fileconnect.symantec.com/licenselogin.jsp?...

Best,

Yes SEP 12 users do not have access to the tool. It is not on file connect for us and Symantec tech supp told me I would have to buy SEP 11.0.6 if I wanted it. I am just looking for any way to get it besides buying a second license for all my PC's

Let me do some research on this matter and get back to you later today.

If you open a case with Technical Support, they can provide a link to download SERT from the FileShare website. You are entitled to use it.

I agree that it should be available on FileConnect for SEP SBE 12 customers.
