I download virus defnitions manually and deploy to my isolated environment fro https://www.symantec.com/security_response/definitions/download/detail.jsp?gid=sep

Today I saw one more option added to site. I am running SEPM 12.1.6

Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager Installations on Windows Platforms (To be used for SEP 12.1.6 and later versions only)

How to update definitions for Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager using the .jdb file

File Name Creation Date Release Date File Size MD5 | all
    vd461202core3.jdb | FTP 08/09/2015 08/09/2015 58.7 MB 09ACDCEA3C86F994DC59EDE92A29CDE4

Supports the following versions of Symantec antivirus software:

    • Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.6 and later

I deployed the above virus definiton file. Virus definition has not been updated on any of the clients and it has almost been an hour. Usually, it was updated within 15 -20 minutes. Did I download the correct file?

    Thanks

I guess, this definition is only for SEP Reduced size client installation, which is a feature introduced in RU6. This definition package will not update the normal standard size installation.

Do not use this one, stick with the ones you've been using.

It seems you had downloaded correct file. Are the clients updated now?

    Hi tamang,

Confirming the above: those (SEP 12.1.6 Reduced-Size Client only) definitions are only to be used on XPE, POS, etc.  Don't use them on the typical SEP clients.  If you do there will be a lot of bandwidth consumed, afterward, as SEPM and clients get back to their correct definitions.
