Deployment Solution

 I need to add some newer NIC drivers for Boot Disk Creator.  When I click on the "Internet" button it launches IE and tries to go to ftp://support.altiris.com/support/NIC_drivers/DOS.  It fails to find that page.  Does anyone know if that page has been moved?  BTW, I'm using DS6.9 SP1.  I prefer not to upgrade after I've read some "horror" stories.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hmmm... Not sure what's up here -I'll give Altiris a call tomorrow and see what's up. As for stability of DS6.9 SP2 and SP3, i've not had need to install SP3 yet, but SP2 has proved stable for me on upgrades.

But I completely understand your reluctance -my own advice  is often that if your DS is stable and has all the functionality you require of it then don't bother upgrading. Upgrading in that scenario is fairly pointless. It's worth delaying that pain for when a service pack emerges which does have some functionality you need for your environment.

I'm afraid Symantec has made some security changes which means that this link no longer works. Firstly the ftp site support.altiris.com no longer exists/works, and the one they've moved to is password protected. This change hasn't been advertised (anywhere I can see) so I guess we're all meant to have developed telepathy in order to be notified of such updates. 

It's also a bit shocking considering this is live linked inside Deployment Server.

The new ftp site is: ftp.altiris.com

I have PM'd you the user name and password to gain access to the secured site. If anyone else has this problem -just PM me and I'll pass you the details too.

In the mean time this has been escalated, so let's see what happens.

Yep -same FTP username and password info as described in KB22621. Mentioning that will save me some PMs!

It seems they've been amalgamating the sources on this FTP site. Not sure when the ftp site support.altiris.com got migrated over, but I suspect this was done without realising this was hardwired into DS.
