The dreaded database down email

I have followed everything that worked on here by renaming the log file then running dbsrv11.exe -f and the database just starts and then stops. We are using 12.1.

I also uninstalled and reinstalled using the backed up database and server key files. It appeared to work for about 30 minutes and then database down again.

My questions are:

Is there a 64-bit version of SEPM as we are running Server 08 64-Bit SP2?

How to I start fresh with a new install with a new database but keep the keys so the clients still can communicate and get there updates.

Hello,

Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager Console is an Application which could be installed on 32 Bit as well as 64 bit machines without issues.

In your case, what you are facing is the Database services stopping.

Could you let us know -

1) Which Database are you carrying - Is that SQL or Embedded?

2) If SQL then, Is the SQL and SEPM both installed on same machine??

Check the Article

SQL Server configuration settings for installing the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager

http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO11101

3) How many clients are reporting to the SEPM?

Incase, if you install fresh SEPM, then you may not get the same policies applied to the Earlier SEPM, however, you can get all the clients reporting back to SEPM by using SylinkReplacer v_12.1 Utility.

You may contact Technical Support to get the SylinkReplacer v_12.1 Utility.

Hope that helps!!

forgot to put that in.

We are using the embedded database. I guess I figured by saying I ran the dbsrv11.exe file it meant I was running embedded.

To accomplish this you will want to perform a disaster recovery without database. Below is documentation on this process. Please note the section at the bottom on if you do not have a database backup to restore.
