    I'm on a Windows 2008 R2 virtual server. C is 80gb with 9% free, and D is 20gb with 50% free, and 160gb unallocated. We have 1TB temporary external space. We have SEPM 12.1 and BackupExec 2010 R3 w/dedupe.

I'd like to copy everything from D to external drive, and delete D. Then extend C + 80gb. Then create a new D drive with the rest of the 80gb unallocated space and copy data from external drive to D. So my C would be 160gb, and D would be 100gb.

Would this work, or mess things up?

This would not be a supported way to do things and tough to say what the outcome would be.

    Can't you just extend C: ?

    Ok.

I wish I could, but it was setup in an odd way. I can't get unallocated space between C and D.

    C is a primary partition

    D is a logical drive

    Then unallocated space

I think we'll startup a new server VM. It seems it'd be best with a clean slate. That server has been through enough changes and now that things are settled, a fresh start would be nice.

    Thanks Brian

    Probably you're best option :)

    Take care
