Man...The driver injection only seems to work about 50% of the time. Typically it is the laptops that give me grief and typically it is the Modem, Bluetooth, fingerprint reader,O2micro drivers that are the troublemakers. Up until now we have been using an Nlite copy of our XP disk to work around this by including the drivers on the base image. I am trying to get away from this workaround and actually inject the drivers for each device on each model of computer in our organization. Here is my question (s) Has anyone built a troubleshooting flow chart to refer to for troubleshooting driver injection? If so can you share please? If not could you would you be willing to help me whip one up for us all to use :). I think something like this would be very helpful for people trying to resolve driver injection issues and also as a learning aid for people (like me )who are reletiviely new to Altiris and the DS specifically. Thanks in advance, JF

I ran into the same problem when working on a Dell Latitude E6400. I could inject some of the drivers with a script, but others just wouldn't work. I also found that some drivers have to be installed in a certain order for them to work. What did was just to script these drivers individually in the correct order using the exe's or msi that are in the driver. I then used an .iss file or ran the msi file with /? swicth to find out how to get them to run with no UI. I hope this helps some. Drivers can really be a pain.

SOunds like excactly what I am up against. I can't remember which drivers are giving me grief for the Dell E6400's I will get one later today and test. Right now I am having difficulty with the O2micro, Modem and fingerprint reader for our Dell D620's. How can you tel which order they are to be installed in? Yes Drivers seem to be more difficult than they should be.

Maybe this will help. I found it just by searching in google. Here is a link I found just doing a quick search. http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=cc_faq&thread.id=358

Do you happen to know the command line switch to find out how to run these without UI? (newbie question I know but I've tried, failed and I am stumped) Thanks in advance, JF
