I'm trying to setup an Altiris Server in my org - Have successfully installed all the pre-requisites and a bunch of solutions too!

All well in this area - only when it comes to installing the Deployment Solution - i keep running into errors!!

Tried all ways of installing that i could think of!

    Method One

    Step 1:

Downloaded the DS package from http://www.solutionsam.com/Solutions/6_0/

On the Altiris Console - install/upgrade solution - setting - pointed to local setup source

    Step 2:

Try installing through available solutions A->Z and it throws up an "access denied" error!

    Method Two

Step 1: Through command prompt - ran installation by inputting "Altiris_DeploymentSolution_6_9.exe -a /ALL:a /qb" command

Only does a silent install of just the deployment web console.

    Error in event viewer:

Service cannot be started. System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted

Been banging my head around this for quite a few days now!!

    need help badly!

    Thank you

I've never heard of this SolutionSam website. I thought the official way to download the DS installation is from http://www.altiris.com/Download.aspx

Mike is correct. What you're installing is the web version of DS that adds the Deployment tab into the NS Console. Try this ftp://ftp.altiris.com/Produ......olutionWin_6_9.exe

solutionsam.com is still a valid site to get downloads. In fact, I believe when you first purchase from Altiris, that is the direction they point you first to get your downloads.

Isn't the "official" way to use the configuration > upgrade/install additional solutions task in the NS. Ultimately that goes out to solutionsam.com but it handles the pre-reqs and services restarts for you. It is easy to miss something manually running things from solutionsam.com unless you are very familiar with the specific solution.

Brandon, you are correct, that is the preferred method, Altiris points you to the solutionsam.com site to get the initial download (i.e. if you don't have NS yet).

update: this windows KB update got rid of "Access Denied" message which would come up when running a web install - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925336

But surprisingly the web install of DS would complete and only the web console got installed!

So i ran a manual install of "Altiris_DeploymentSolutionWin_6_9.exe" - and the entire suite seems to have got installed - lets just hope it works.

I'm currently trying to migrate my NS setup from my old server to a new server!.

Just finished installing all the solutions - matched them with my OLD NS server and moved the database files onto NEW NS server.

I now see all my collections, clients, settings reflecting on my new server.

Just need to change the name of the new server back to what the old server was called and ensure the SQL database connects!

I hope i've got lines right!
