Deployment Solution

Hi,

In February we upgraded our DS from DS 6.8 to DS 6.9 SP1 and we installed the Maintenance Pack MP1 directly afterwards. The issue comes up on one of our DS Web Consoles. The strange thing is that on another Deploynent Server with same upgrade procedure the issues does not come up.
I am a ware of a similar forum post, however, it referes to a version prior to ours. (Prior to installaing MP1).

The installed DS webn Console version is 6.9.355, the DS version is 6.9.365.

Any idea why this error comes up and how to resolve it?

I'm not positive, but you may need to re-install the web console on all effected servers.  You should be able to do this via the axinstall.exe located in:

\\SERVERNAME\nscap\bin\win32\x86\Deployment Server Install\axinstall.exe

Just do a component install.

Thank you for your swift reply. This does not sound good. However, I am not sure whether MP1 should be reinstalled after the new installation of the DS web console on the server or not. We do not have Web console servers. Clients uses the web console to connect to our DS's in several locations.

Web console is a component of DS.  I think if you re-install only that companent by using the axinstall method I posted above, this should resolve your problem. You will need to do this on each DS server that is experiencing the web console problem.

I have reinstalled the DS Web Console on one of our Altiris DS's.
After the installation the issue was the same, however, after re-applying the DS 6.9 SP1 MP1 on that server the issue was fixed. The version of the dsweb.dll on the fixed server is: 1.0.3259.33838, wheras the version of the same file on the server where the issue still comes up is: 1.0.3208.42774. Also there are two different versions for the file: AxDsCm.dll under .\Deployment web cosnole\DSweb\bin.

Please notice that on both servers MP1 was installed after the upgrade.
can copying those new files to the faulty server and restarting the Console service resolve the issue?

As long as you keep a backup of the file you are overwriting, I don't see how it could hurt to try. 

Unfortunately it did not work. After replacing file the ds web console reported an error.
That means that I will install Maintenance Pack on the affected server and see if it works.

This worked for me after re-installing MP1 did not fix the issue.

The issue's been resolved by repplying Altiris DS 6.9 MP1 on the affected DS. Neither a DS Web Console reinstallation nor a server reboot was required.
