I follow the KB https://kb.altiris.com/article.asp?article=36555&p=1
2nd try, I do stop manualy all the services before running the Axinstall.exe
My previous version was a Ds 6.9 sp1 mp1

I don't think this is because I select to update also WinPe preboot.
I do not have yet slave PXE on this server...
I am waiting from 2 hours now, I will wait 2 more... (no CPU or LAN activity)

More in the context & investigating

Use of SQL express 2005 edition, local... ;-)

After killing the process & reboot to free the log file: DbInstallLog

If I take a look on the SQL server config, surprise, all the same default 1433 was OK in the axinstall settings SQL screen part, and pass throw without error, I see after 2nd reboot, the Dynamic port was active, and port switch to 1403... OK I try 1 more time after fixing port 1433, delete the "0" of the dynamic ports, as explain in connect...

I try to connect the Express SQL using management tools, and it fails...
So I reinstall... all is OK except during install

Hello,

I have seen something similar when I upgraded the service pack in the database. If you notice the screen capture you have for the TCP/IP  change the setting for IP1 from Enabled = no to Enabled = Yes.  Accept changes restart the SQL service and reinstall.

The same problem here

Hi there,

Here the installer is also hanging at the 96% mark and from that moment it is impossible to open the database from the altiris server.
If i open the database from any other server with odbc there is no problem at all. My sql instance is running on a separate sql server.
The most strange thing is when i change the odbc connection on the altiris server to the ip adres of the server that the connection to the database is restored again. It looks like the installer is blocking access to the server on the name you provide in the installer.

So in my case the eXpress odbc connection is to server\sql01 and that is what i give in during the setup of 6.9 sp2. When the setup is at the 96% mark and hangs the setup the odbc connection is also no longer working. But when i then change the odbc connection to the ip adres of the sql server (10.0.0.1\sql01) than the connection works again.

It really looks like the installer somehow blocks access to the sql server.

I`am running Windows 2003 Enterprise SP2 + updates until 31-07-09 without the ie8 update.

Grts, Marco
