Deployment Solution

I've got a DS 6.9 sp5mr2 server for about 2000 end points.  lately, i am seeing preconfigured computers (yellow icon) show up in the console.  usually, there's more than one instance of each preconfigured computer.  

thing is, we don't use initial deployment (and in fact i'd love to disable it) and we don't use preconfigured computers.  i doubt any of the techs actually know how to create them, and i myself barely remember how.  instead, we use Ian Atkins' awesome ImageInvoker tool to do bare metal deployments and reimages.  

the problem is, when i need to boot a machine into winpe, it comes up with the "select preconfigured computer" popup.  if i hit cancel, it doesn't just stop at the "client record updated" screen like i expect, since the computer i'm booting up doesn't exist in the DS yet - it's a brand new VM.  even if i go thru the list and delete all the machines listed in the popup, it still doesn't stop at client record updated.  

has anyone else seen preconfigured computers show up in the console, when nobody actually made them?  and is there a way to completely disable initial deployment? i don't have anything listed in the initial deployment item in the console, and i even have the "do not run initial deployment on selected computer types" checked for both servers and workstations/clients.  so why does it keep prompting to select a preconfigured computer?

I don't have a console in front of me at the moment but think you can disable Initial Deployment by right clicking on it and either ticking or unticking both Servers and Workstations.

thanks andy, but i mentioned those check/tick boxes in my original post, and both are checked, which should disable initial deploy for everything.  and now that i think about it, i think that part is working because it doesn't ask us to select a job.  i guess in my frustration i was conflating this preconfigured pick list with initial deploy.  sorry for the confusion.  

another data point: we get the "pick a preconfigured computer" popup on normal desktops and laptops too, so it's not something limited to just VMs.  and if it matters, i've tried both vmware workstation and hyperv VMs and get the same result.  

really the root problem is these preconfigured machines popping into the console without explanation.  if they weren't there, we wouldn't get the popup and it wouldn't be an issue.  

also, is there a filter available or that can be made to find all preconfigured computers?  if i could filter on that i could at least clean them out proactively so people wouldn't see the popup as often.  it'd make cleaning them up easier too since i wouldn't have to toggle back and forth between a vm or second pc booted into winpe to see what's in the list - i could just nuke them right in the console.  looking thru available options in the filters, computer status would be the most logical, but its only possible choices are active and inactive, which doesn't help here.
