DS 7.1 SP1 - Unable to delete PXE no task is still using it

    I'm unable to delete a Preboot environment, console thinks it is being used by a task but it isn't i've looked everywhere.

    The PXE in question was used in a task once but is no longer used by this task but the console hasn't updated.

    When trying to delete it doesn't show the normal screen informing what is using the object as per other altiris screens.

    Does anyone know where this is set?

    Check if this PXE Preboot image is in use for Unknown Computer or Predefined computers under Settings > Deployment > PXE Server Configuration.

    I had to delete the task that used to use the PXE image before I could delete it. It was a pain but once it was gone I could delete the PXE image and then recreate the task.

    We don't use those options.

    The PXE i'm trying to delete was only ever used in 1 task I use for testing this task no longer uses this PXE.

    So 100% sure no task currently is using it.

    Was the PXE image used in a 'reboot to PXE' or 'prepare for image capture' task at any point?

    Yes it was, those tasks are now deleted but still wont let me delete it.

    Is there anyway around this?

    The only other I can suggest is to install SMART which Thomas Baird created.

    Run the VBS scripts on your NS/DS and you'll get a load of precreated reports - a lot of them relating to PXE configs. Once report tells you what jobs or tasks are using PXE images. It might point you to an erroneous task that's using the PXE image.

    I'll let you know if I thing of anything else.

    Thanks. Strangely enough I had to go through all this yesterday to get rid of old PXE images!

    Report helped, showed be task that i'm sure the PXE was never in.

    Anyway deleted that task and now be able to delete it.

    For anyone else:

    The report didn't work via the vbscrit some strange error.

    So I imported it via the report gui screen and then had the report.

    "SMART In-use PXE Configurations"
