I am just looking for an answer to see if this is possible.

When a machine is deployed I would like the the user deploying the build to be prompted to give the computer a hostname. Then the pc finish the setup on the domian.

is this possible with using an answerfile? Or is it an option in another area of altiris.

This is possible for unknown computers.  You need to modify initial deployment to run a script which prompts the user for a computer name, which is entered into the registry, after which the PECTAgent loads and populates the computer name for the console from the registry that you just wrote, which is then injected into the unattend.xml later when the file is parsed using a token replacement script, this new unattend.xml has the computer name hardcoded into it (not a variable) so that it can be used by the Windows 7 unattend process.
