DSSU file questions
Updated: 22 May 2010 | 3 comments
Running NBU6.0 MP2.
A few questions regarding DSSUs and associated disk files:
1) What files, if any, are created on a DSSU if a scheduled backup fails?
2) If files are created, are they eventually deleted by the disk clearing process, or do they need to be manually deleted?
3) Is there a relationship between status 190 errors on data relocation jobs, and failed backup jobs?
TIA,

I know only NBU 5.1MP5, but...
1) What files, if any, are created on a DSSU if a scheduled backup fails?
-There are no files if a scheduled backup fails
2)
If files are created, are they eventually deleted by the disk clearing process, or do they need to be manually deleted?
- Under normal circumstances, there is no need to manually remove any files on a
DSSU

3) Is there a relationship between status 190 errors on data relocation jobs, and failed
backup jobs?
- I have never seen a status 190 in connection with a DSSU. However, as a failed
backup job does not left behind any files on a DSSU there should be no relationship.
It is probably good practice not to relocate backup images from a DSSU and
wirting backup images to a DSSU at the same time.
Russell,
It's been a couple of weeks. Have you gotten answers to your questions yet? If so, then please post a follow up.
Thanks
1) I have found that after failed backups, there are files created on my DSSU for that server's failed backup. Various *.img and *.info files with associated server names and time stamps. When I try to locate these images in the catalog, they do not exist.
2) After failed backups, there seems to be a lot of status 190 errors for duplication jobs. When I go into the DSSUs and clean out these incomplete image files, the 190 errors disappear. However, I have been doing this on a daily basis, and have not waited for a period of time to see if they are automatically cleaned out.
Can anyone else verify this behavior?
