Duplicate Client machines in SEPM

  • 1.  Duplicate Client machines in SEPM

We are facing an issue where we have duplicate clients. The issue is not due to machine imaging but after some investigation we found that it is because a machine is showing as part of two different domains. It isnt, but there are multiple domains and for some reason these machines come in as duplicates. We also have enabled the domain setting to delete machines after 7 days but it doesnt seem to work. Also, among the duplicates one copy of the machine shows no information whatsoever other than the hostname and domain name and in some cases, the user logged in.

We also cannot manually delete the machine since the OU's are linked to the Active Directory.

    Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Okay, so currently, in SEPM, we only have one domain and that is the default domain. I think this could fix the problem. Could you please give me some more information about domains in SEPM?

    Thanks

    Go through the following articles:

    Switching to the current domain

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO80766

    Managing domains and administrator accounts

Have you integrated AD with SEPM?

SEPM shows Duplicate entries for Groups due to Replication and Active Directory Synchronization on Both SEPM

can you post a screen shot?

One thing which I just want to clarify (maybe im wrong) by domain, I meant, an Active Directory domain. Not SEPM domain.

yeah....you might have imported OU from AD into SEPM, and installed clients normally in this case, OU clients will showup without green dot and normal clients will show up with green shot. if this is not the case.

can you share the screen shot of the duplicates you are seeing?

Is it possible to remove AD integration and add it again?

You see, if I search for that client, it appears in two different OU's and one has all the information and one doesnt. This is why even our setting to delete clients older than 7 days arent going because it doesnt know anything about the client so it doesnt know how long it has been offline for

    Hi All,

So the issue is fixed and the solution was simple. The machines were listed in different OU's in different Domains thus the machines were appearing online in one domain and offline in the other.

The answer is to simply find the machine that is offline and delete in the Active Directory. This will remove it from SEPM
