Duplicate emails are returned when searching EV Journal

Hi All,
EV 8 SP3. Exchange Server 2003 SP2
When we do Journal searches some items are returned twice. I'm pretty sure that this is because we have 2 Exchange Servers. eg when a mailbox on "Exchange Server A" sends to a mailbox on "Exchange Server B" then this is recorded twice in the EV Journal.
Is this by design?
Have we missed something in the configuration?
Can we stop this from happening?

That is how exchange works for the most part, EV will treat them as two seperate emails due to the fact that they are at their core, two seperate emails.
In DA9 it will stack duplicate items on top of each other so you don't see them all, but to stop it from happening either make changes to your exchange environment or look at some third party tools such as Orchestria (i believe they provide de-dupe functionality)

You sugest making changes to our Exchange environment. I'm assuming that your suggestion is to journal both Exchange Servers email to one journal mailbox. (eg only on Exchange Server A)
Is this correct?

Yes I understand that at the core the emails are different as they are in different stores but I was hoping EV would somehow know this and address it accordingly.
Is the email stored twice in EV storage or is it just the indexes that are different?
Was wondering how other sites with many more Exchange Servers handle this?

Enterprise Vault will not do
Enterprise Vault will not do de-duplication as technically thats not compliant, de-duplication is something that is offered by 3rd party software i believe.
Best practice can really be determined between your exchange and legal teams, most companies just live with the fact.
Where are you seeing the dupes and what do you need to use to filter it out?
are you using Search.asp or Discovery Accelerator? again, there are new features in DA that would make sorting through all this a lot easier

Yes we just live with it too but I always get questioned about the duplicates and management have now asked me for a solution, hence the questions. The searching of the journal is very minimal, maybe one or two a month so management haven't put a great priority on DA.
We are seeing the duplicates using the Browser search as we don't have DA. Now I know DA addresses this issue I'll advise management that this is the solution and maybe DA will now get a higher priority.
