Duplicate job fails with "The job was canceled because the response to a media request alert was Cancel ... "

Here is another case where a backup fails with the message.

"The job was canceled because the response to a media request alert was Cancel, or because the alert was configured to automatically respond with Cancel, or because the Backup Exec Job Engine service was stopped."

In this case the failing job is a duplicate of a successful backup to disk, where I am writing the backup data to tape.

The backup to disk is about 15 gigs.  The target tape device is two slots of a Quantum LT05 attached to the Backup Exec server.

The duplicate runs for 30 minutes or so and then stops with this error.  There is 1.3 terrebytes of free space on the tape.

Some of the duplicate got written; about 435 Mb worth.

Why is a job like this starting and then failing with this error?

I have already set the response to "yes" to alerts of type "media insert" and "media overwrite".

Backup Exec is version Backup Exec 2012 version 14.0 rev 1798. 32 bit.

Are your duplicate to tape jobs overwriting the tape or are they appending to the tape?

If you have a couple of duplicate to tape jobs, the first job should overwrite the tape to maximise the use of the tape space and then the subsequent jobs should append to the tape.
