  • 1.  Easiest way to determine log size?

    Posted Aug 09, 2011 03:12 PM

For a group of...for example...50 clients, how would we determine the approximate size of the log files to keep 365 days worth of data?

Right now we're using the out-of-the-box setting of 512 kb with the number of days set to 365, but we have determined that 512 kb is not enough to keep this number of days worth of data.  So we need to configure it to actually keep 365 days worth of data.

What's the easiest way to figure out how much space to use?  I checked the administration guide but it doesn't tell me much.

    Thanks.

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/how-much-bandwidth-used-sep-client-one-day

There is tool from symantec that helps to find size of the db, let me find that

Brain is SEP database sizing an internal tool or external. If it is external can you please give me a link for that.

    I'm not sure.

I believe we obtained this back in 2007 when we brought in consultants to assist us in setting up the SEP 11.x architecture in our environment.

I know it was authored by Paul Murgatroyd but I have no more info than that as I wasn't involved in the initial SEP 11.x setup. One of my colleagues involved in the setup passed this on to me.

Thank you to everyone who replied!

I think we have the information that we need to come up with some numbers.
